In Western architecture, cash room, also known as a lounge room, lounge or lounge, is often a room in the residential house or apartment to relax and socializing. Such a room is oftentimes called a living room when it is at the main entrance at the front end of the house. In large formal homes, a sitting area is often a small private living room adjacent to a bedroom, for example the Queen's Sitting Room plus the Lincoln Sitting Room from the White House. The term family room was coined within the late 19th or early twentieth century. In homes that lack a parlour or drawing room, the lounge may also be a reception room for guests. Objects in spaces may be used "to instigate and mediate contemplation about significant others, or even regulate how much intimacy desired with guests.A typical Western lounge may contain furnishings like a sofa, chairs, occasional tables, coffee tables, bookshelves, electric lamps, rugs, or some other furniture. Traditionally, a lounge in the United Kingdom and New Zealand includes a fireplace, dating at the time this was required for heating. In a Japanese sitting area, referred to as a washitsu, the bottom is covered with tatami, sectioned mats, on what people can sit comfortably.
